Dodging the paths already set,
Living this life is no regret,
I keep myself hidden from the world around,
I step quickly without a sound.
Under nightfall I emerge,
Checking every grassy verge,
For anything once lost and now found,
I step quickly without a sound.
Once I ran through fields of green,
With no worries of being seen,
Under foot was soft ground,
I once stepped quickly without a sound.
I do not belong in this urban street,
Here I lay with throbbing feet,
This floor is made for a petting hound,
So I step quickly without a sound.
No one like me lives nearby,
I can understand exactly why,
This is no longer safe ground,
So I step quickly without a sound.
